Hello,

Over this winter I want to re-rivet the crossbars to the castings. I am wondering if anyone has ever done this job, and if so do you have any hints.... Also, does anyone know what size rivets I should use?

Thanks,

Danny

I have riveted crossbars and traveller track with a pop riveter and had no trouble. the Hobie catalaog lists the rivet specs for the front and rear H16 castings to be as follows:

catalog no. 8011231 rivet 6-8 pn HD Monel

They have them priced at 65 cents for 10. You should probably order them through your Hobie Dealer. And, by the way go to Hobiecat.com to get their catalog.

I don't know what would be a satisfactory substitution for the catalog listing.

You want the Monel rivets. Recommend going to a dealer or ordering from Murrays. The rivets can be pulled with a larger

squeeze

type riveter but an accordian type riveter is much easier. Grease up the rivet with anti-seize compound first.
