tramp is pulling out...HELP!
I just relaced my frame with new tramp lacing and got it tight as a drum, but I noticed that the tramp is starting to pull out on the sides at the front corners. I have a bad feeling that if I ever stepped up there while sailing the tramp would just pull right out down the sides and leave me in the water.
To fix it I was thinking of just cutting up a plastic milk container and wraping a shim around the canvas at the very front to create a little thickness so it won't pull out again. Has anyone ever tried something like this? Is there an eaiser way?
i like your idea, sounds very simple and practical. i guess the idea is to make the bolt rope bigger. what about inserting a pin into the bolt rope. maybe a brass or bronze welding rod with a sharpened end? or even a sharpened wood dowel maybe 1/8". what about adding a grommet in the corner and lacing the tramp to the frame? like i said, your idea seems good to me!
Are you talking about the very front of the tramp where it threads into the rail? I just relaced my tramp as well and mine looks (I think ) similar to what you have described but, mine was that way before I relaced. I thought that since this is my first Hobie, that was just how it was.
What did you relace your tramp with? I am trying 3/8" shock cord. The good heavy duty black stuff. Has anyone else tried this? I know one thing for sure it was a real pain in the but to get it really tight. It looks great but haven't had it on the water yet.
