RE: H16 traveler car and track.
Being new to the H16 it seemed (my opinion) to me the traveler system is light (ish) duty.
Has anybody experienced any types of failures in this system.
what should i check ,for wear n tear. maintenance?
any thoughts or comments?

The cars have been pretty solid over the years aside from a few production issues and slamming the car at the end of the track. New 16s main cars (since mid 90's) have been bullet proof and smooth running due to a change in the axles diameter and brass wheels.
Keep the track clean. Tie a knot in the traveler line to prohibit slamming the car into the corner casting.

What Matt said. Put dishwashing soap on the traveler for lubrication.
