I have seen a few mentions of a square top sail for my H16, I checked Hobies web site and saw no mention of it. Where can I get more info on this sail? Also does anyone know of a good lubricant for my standard main sail? It is very hard to pull up the last half and sail track lube only lasts one day.

* Believe Calvert Sails (Florida) builds a H16 square top. Miles Moore has info on square tops at www.sail-s.com. He will most likely respond on this thread at some time.

* Three things:

Make sure your sail track is clean. Hose it off and run a rag or piece of sponge through the entire length. Give your sail luff a good wipe as well.

Lube with (from expensive to cheap): McLube Sail Kote (does not attract dirt, so they say), silicon spray (attracts dirt?), liquid dish soap (e.g. Joy).

Back off your batten tension. Battens crammed in hard will make the sail very difficult to raise. Best sail shape seems to be at "get the wrinkles out" tension anyway.

Randy Smyth builds a sqaure top sail. Just ordered one from him for my Hobie 16. his website is www.smythteam.com i think. Can call and talk to him. I asked him a lot of questions before ordering it.

Good luck
