Charlotte Harbor Regatta, Who is Going?
Hi All,
The Waves have been invited to the Charlotte Harbor Regatta Feb. 5-7, 2010 event on
Charlotte Harbor, Florida. This is a big MIXED regatta where you will see all sorts of boats -- H16s, Wetas, Sunfish, Lasers, and bigger boats, all sailed on three different courses.
They say there are parties every day and could be a lot of fun.
Charlotte Harbor was recognized by SAIL magazine as one of the Top 10
greatest places to sail in the United States. We have played host to
numerous Soling Olympic trials and one-design regattas, including the
International Sunfish Midwinters. We will have ten classes on three
circles and nightly
regatta parties
at world-famous Fishermen's
Village Resort & Marina. Low entry fees and affordable hotel
accommodations make the Charlotte Harbor Regatta, the fun, affordable
regatta.
For information, go to www.charlotteharborregatta.com or call Brian Gleason at
941-206-1133. He says he is looking forward to hearing from you and seeing a fleet of
Waves on Charlotte Harbor next month.
There are hotels in the area that are less money than the host hotel and camping -- they are listed on their website. One RV is allowed to stay at the launching site as a guard. Others must go to Peace River Campground
www.peacerivercampground.com, or Riverside RV Resort www.riversidervresort.com
Stan Woodruff has sailed in this with a Sunfish and says the beach is awesome for launching.
If you are going to make it to this regatta, please email me. I don't want to show up and be the only one there,
thanks
Rick

Sorry I can't join you. I'll be close, but not close enough.
We're flying into Tampa on Feb 6th for two weeks at Grand Shores West in North Redington Beach. They have two Waves available (free) for their guests to check out and sail around in the gulf. Sometimes we'll race around the crab pot buoys, for bragging rights. I usually end up taking lots of snowbirds out for rides and giving a few sailing lessons while I'm there.
I just can't wait to get away from snow! (Yes, I'm packing my wetsuit...)
We're at four already as of Jan. 23. Can we get to 10 Waves on Charlotte Harbor?
Thanks to Rick and all the Wave racers for your enthusiastic response to our invitation to compete in the Charlotte Harbor Regatta. Defending NA champ Jack Woehrle is already in, as are Stan and Sharon Woodruff, and Rick says interest is high. Get your names on the scratch sheet now and watch it grow. We do not charge a deposit or a withdrawal fee, so you have nothing to lose. We'll have world-class sailing with international-level ROs and judges, plus nightly regatta parties overlooking the beautiful marina at Fishermen's Village. Feel free to call me at 941-661-6415 or email me at briangleason@charlotteharborregatta.com if you have any questions. Look forward to seeing you on Charlotte Harbor.
If you think you're coming, please register at www.charlotteharborregatta.com. No payment is necessary. If you register before Saturday, Feb. 6, you pay no $10 late fee regardless of whether you pay online. We are encouraging early registration for planning and staffing purposes. Thanks. The forecast is for sailing weather!
