Midwinters East Not Allowing other Sails or Tramps
IWCA is not invited this year to the Hobie Midwinters east. Here is the emails involved:
Hi Pete,
I see. Well, that will eliminate many of the Waves that otherwise would come? They did allow IWCA Waves at the last one in Ft Lauderdale.., that is why I asked. The difference being the IWCA allows after market tramps and sails.
Thanks and let me know if it changes. I will advise the fleet that they must have all Hobie parts to attend.

Pete,
The MWE event will be sailed under Hobie Class Rules.
Hope that answers the question.

Hi Steve,
The Wave Class (IWCA) is wondering if we are invited to the midwinters this year, utilizing the IWCA rules of allowing aftermarket sailmakers and tramp makers?

Rick,
I have just exchanged emails with Chris Wessels and he assures me that ALL WAVES will be welcome at the MWE in Daytona.
He is working on getting everyone in the loop on the Wave situation. Apparently the people you communicated with didn't know the
right
answer.
Once I confirm this, I will post again.

Yes, I too have heard from Mark and there is a new
Hobie Edict
.
Thanks for your hard work Chris, you did your best in an uphill fight.
Having said that, I still want to go to Daytona because it is an awesome place to sail. I don't understand how the HOBIE WAY ended up sailing in little inland lakes miles from any REAL water!
Hobies were designed from the very start as beach boats and surf riders.
I challenge all you IWCA folks to come to Daytona and kick my butt with a
legal
boat. Bring it guys...you too Leah! (I know Leah has a Hobie sail).
