Hey everybody, had a question, when sailing the Wave (just got it recently} it seems to really scoop up the water. Between what comes over the front crossbar and up the drink holders, there ends up being a lot more than wants to drain out those little grommeted holes in the tramp. Anybody else get this? How tight can the tramp be pulled to reduce the puddle? Do they make a mesh tramp? This aside, really liking the boat for our rental operation, nice and light, easy setup, and the front speader bar is great for grabbing it to haul up the berm where my boats are parked.
Never had that happen. You must not have the tramp tight enough. I have the club version which uses line to lace up the middle and aft. Unless it is really howling, the boat is pretty dry, except for a few splashes.

We have three Waves and all have mesh tramps. In fact, I don't think I have ever seen a Wave with a solid vinyl trampoline.
I have been sailing a Wave for years and I think it is a relatively dry boat compared to most cats I have sailed. I don't know what you mean by "scoop up the water." I don't know why it would be coming over the front beam unless the boat is overloaded with people or full of water or going through ferry wake in light air. The boat has a lot of freeboard.
I started out with the classic wave (with the removable tramp, held on with two cables). I was never able to get this really tight (lots of water, wet butts all the time). I bought a club wave tramp (traditional lace up) and that has worked MUCH better. I stay out of the water. If the wind is really blowing , you do get really wet (especially if you have a crewman). The water is mainly coming from larger waves coming along side and whacking you as you hang out over the side - that's part of the fun of it!
Well, I have the tramp really tight, it's puckering like crazy
where the sewn on tabs that the tensioners go to, and it's definatly not mesh! The freeboard isn't really that high, and when it's in short period waves with two big poeple on it, the relative shortness of the bows to where the front cross bar is
really lets it dive into that second wave of the set. Oh well, maybe I can get a different tramp from that guy who bent his boat....
New lupdate: I sailed a Wave with the cable tramp this weekend and you are right.., it is miserable. I tightened it up with the mainsheet two times during the regatta and it still was in the water. I usually sail with my feet in the middle of the tramp and found myself sailing with my feet on the hull instead.

Well, Rick, apparently a saggy tramp dragging in the water didn't slow you down much, since you won the regatta.
Also, it was a saggy, cable tramp on the winning Wave at Wave Nationals this year (sailed by Kathy Kulkoski).
I kind of like the bit of water that splashes up under the trampoline. I have mine tightened up and it doesn't drag but does let water through.
However, I know what you mean on the short period waves, diving, and water coming over the beam!
