Wave vs. A-cat
I've owned a Wave since 2001 and I'm looking for a boat that will sail better in lighter wind, which you often find on a lake. I have heard that the A-cat might sail better in a lake vs the ocean or harbor.
Being use to the Wave I wonder how much of a difference the A-cat would be? Any discussion of this would be appreciated. I don't want to buy a catamaran that would scare the heck out of me, and, if anyone knows of a light single-handed cat other than the A-cat, I'd like to hear about that too.
One last thing, when checking on the internet for prices, A-cats seem to be $7K and up, often without a trailer. Are there any A-cats, maybe older ones, that would be for sale cheaper?
Thanks,
I owned an older A class: a 2001 Boyer Mk 4. It was already outmoded when I bought it in 2006, but it was a great boat for farting around on Lake Lanier and it was pretty tough for an A class. It would fly a hull in 5 mph wind. An older Boyer would require more TLC than your Wave and is more technical, but it's not rocket science.
If it were me, I'd look into the mystere 4.3 or the nacra 450/460
I've seen 2001-ish mystere's go for $3k with the trailer. Durable and they'll be much faster than the wave.

Why not just add a Hooter to the Wave and you will have a much faster boat in almost all situations.., and a heck of a lot less money than an A-Cat.

I had a 4.3 and it it a fast boat and will give u a chance to learn new snuffer system that all the new boats have. OH and I bought for $3000, keep it three years and sold it for exactly what I paid for it!!!!!
