Hi all,

As promised I'm kicking off this post to alert folk to the most pressing issue around this event which is accommodation.

I've spoken to several of the major accommodation centres and unfortunately can't give you any good news. As I suggested, Port Vincent is a 'resort town' and at this time of year the population increases by about 500%!!

The best advice I've been given for all visitors is to get onto

Country Getaways - http://www.countrygetaways.info/component/ezrealty/results/10

Accommodation on Yorkes - http://www.accommodationonyorkes.com.au/holiday/Availability

And try to book something as best as you can.

The best bets will be units and holiday houses.

or if there's a group that like each others company - Tuckerway Hostel
http://portvincent.org.au/accommodation-dining/tuckerway-hostel/
• Tuckerway Hostel can host indoor campers and outdoor campers in a bush setting. Full catering is available (additional fees apply).
Indoor accommodation is available for 59 people in a variety of rooms. The main building has a commercial kitchen with all cooking utensils and crockery provided. There is a large dining area with tables and chairs.

I have been told that some accommodations take 10 year bookings!

Good luck with your ringing around.

Finally, please get onto the club facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/Port-Vincent-Sailing-Club-176905519050223/?ref=hl

I'll set up an event page and put out as much info as possible via that medium. It will also be easy for all to share info with the Mozzy FB page.

Thanks Rye! Hope to see you all again in 12 months.

Hi everyone, for people struggling to get accommodation in Port Vincent. The Stansbury caravan park has sites both powered and unpowered. About a 20km drive from Port Vincent but could be of some use.

Hi guys,

Have a crack at these

http://portvincent.ljhooker.com.au/holiday-rentals

http://www.stayz.com.au/accommodati... vincent?gclid=COD9uM6z28oCFdcjvQodOi8Ifg

http://www.countrygetaways.info/port-vincent

I'm trying to investigate some more options, but please keep trying yourselves.

Stansbury is literally a 10 minute drive from Vincent, Sheoak Flat is 5 minutes up a dirt road up the coast. Pt Julia is about 15 minutes away. Minlaton is about 20 mins away. While it's nice to stay near the venue, these may become real possibilities.

From my discussions with a few of the local owners, unfortunately they are not willing to upset families who have booked for years, despite having not tennants for some of the period that you guys would want them for!

It may be of some benefit to hear from those who have managed to secure accommodation as to who they went through and how they did it...

In the meantime, I'll keep on trying..

Hi,

Can we just stealth camp somewhere and come to the club for a shower?

One of the local farms want to receive some beer money and let a few sailors pitch a tent on a bit of dirt?

I do not require any form of Taj Mahal.....

Hi,

Just a thought, how about a scout shed?

I have very fond memories of setting up in the scout shed at Mannering Park.
My mum, my two boys and I in the back half, there was some old furniture, an old lounge, we were living like royalty.....

Maybe I could just wrap up in newspaper and sleep on the closest park bench....

I have left messages for the Tuckerway Hostel, girl guides facility, same as a scouts.

We booked through

Accommodation on Yorks

on 12 January. At that time there was plenty to choose from, though most were pretty expensive. I just had a look now; there are only three places left for the Nationals' dates! (Bloody Mossie sailors probably booked them all.)

Hi,
Went to book Beachside Aquarium.
Property is up for sale, agent cannot guarantee it will be available at end of the year.
Have booked a cabin next to Dave and Brett.
The days of camping are becoming few and far between......
All good

Hi all,

I have made a booking with the Tuckerway Hostel. There are certain booking and cleaning costs etc, but essentially if you are willing to go with 'dormitory' style accommodation at around $30 a night with a full kitchen and bbq stuff at your disposal, then this is for you. It has a big block, so we will plan on allowing all competitors to keep trailer there.
There is also room for tents/small caravans, so it will almost be like a private caravan park for mozzie folk for the week.
There are some more private rooms (usually reserved for teachers - its a school camp setup) for couples willing to brave it or folk that get in quick.

As I have booked it, please contact me privately at

greg.hackett@hotmail.com if you would like to secure a bed.

They are pretty flexible - I have spoken directly with the local agent and as long as there arent' any 'footy trip' style antics, then we're good to go.

This should suit interstaters, or folk travelling without families/partners best, but if you have a crew with you, then let me know and I'll try to arrange you a more private room (can't guarantee double beds though).

I'll wait to hear from you.

Please put your name down on this forum if you can't find anything soon or email me direct and I'll see what I can do for you.

My commission is Coopers Pale Ale!!

All the best.

Hi agian,
Apology 1 - I thought I'd posted this on the 8th or 9th but obviously it didn't work...

Apology 2 - Tuckerway have reneged on my booking due to a prior booking. Obviously some folk found this out for themselves at various points.

My offer still stands though, that if anyone is desperate, they can contact me directly and we can find something.
I reiterate that there are plenty of places within a 20-25 min drive (basically a couple of suburbs...) of PV that would suit folk if PV is full or what's left is deemed unsuitable.

Cheers.

Greetings from the host state.
Currently editing a video of typical afternoon sailing in a sea breeze at Pt. Vincent. Wind speed, 18-24knots. Scheduled second race was cancelled due to wind strength exceeding SI upper limit. Watch this space and the mossie fb website. What music do you prefer. Remember, I'm 'old school'. PP

Unfortunately the video has been blocked on Youtube for copyright reasons, I presume due to the music content.

Could you post the video on Facebook?

Hi Greg/Debra. Yes assuming music content was a problem. Did some research re Warner Music Group, WMG. Edited new tracks.(Please note the artist name for 2 of the tracks. Couldn't help myself!) Now in mosquito fb site https://www.facebook.com/groups/126390337427802/ complete with spelling errors. Fixed them but not going to re-post as it takes hours to upload. As suggested by Gary M have contacted Tim S to pass on and post onto Mosquito web page.
Thanks for your information and suggestion.
PP
PS: After reading Wikipedia and WMG, does Facebook have the same music copyright issues as YouTube? All a new process to me.

We have been contacted by LJ Hooker in Port Vincent advising that accommodation was available to us if we still needed it.

If you haven’t secured accommodation yet for the Nationals, get your name onto the lists of the land agents. It appears that these lists do revolve as conditions change.

Get your entries in by the 31st Nov to avoid the late fee, we don't want the SA's to get too rich, LOL.

Seriously guy's, please beg borrow or steal your way to Nats. The SA's and particularly the Port Vincent guy's deserve our support, they have put a lot of effort in to organise these Nats and have been travelling to Nats in other States.

Entries are looking very average, there are allways reasons not to do things, but Mossie Nats are important.

You are the Mossie fleet if you don't go, don't expect others too keep it going for the next time you feel like turning up, every boat in the fleet is important.

Hi all,

With entry numbers still low in some divisions, it would be really handy to know if your intending to go to the Nats, doesn't matter if you haven't entered yet.

Just a post here letting us know what division you intend to enter would be great.
