Hey Guys! I see people use Dyneema on the trap wires can this be used on rigging as long as its more than 3mm? Would love some advise before I build rigging this weekend

Hi Damien
the rules state:
13.8 All standing rigging shall be circular in section, minimum diameter 3 mm, and shall have no fairings. so in that regard it's probably Ok
however 3mm dyneena won't be 3mm after its loaded up as it tends to thin out as the fibres stretch out.

close but the tech is not quite there yet. personally I would like nothing more than to have full synthetic rigging.

my brother wanted thism I said no, as wire last a lot longer, dyneema steach under huge loads, easy to knot and tangle, any sparp objects will cause a rig to fail. Spreaking from profession I would use wire, dyform (hammer)wire or normal 1x19, I have tried this meathod on a far 36 tri, couldn't get the right shape in mast. Use it if u like but I wouldn't recommend it.

I have been using 3mm STS-12-90 Dyneema in my A-cat for two years without any problems.
