[#20230]

Robert Lott has written up the construction process of his new boat

Grey Matter

, with lots of photos.

Anyone thinking of building one should take a look.

It's on the VMCA site.

A Book on all aspects of a mosquito cat I feel would be great for the class.
Covering all topics.
Maybe each chapter written by a different member.
Just an idea to help new mozzie owners and other sailors.
Topics like- history,boats,sails,suppliers,racing,spi's,wood boats,rigging,centreboards etc.
I know the web helps with this but books are also handy. <img src=

There is a book. It's currently being revised. The VMCA sells it.

The VMCA Shop

But like I said the tuning manual is being revised so best to wait right now. It was written about 10-15 years ago.

Rob,

Fantastic effort with the new hulls and great photos and instructions. <img src=

alt=

/> I don't know where you find the time. Please keep us up to date (more images) with the paint job.

Will the new Mozzie come in at minimum weight ?

Regards,

Peter

I think Peter will know more about the progress of the tuning manual, but I suspect this project will take a few months - into the next season.

Darryn,

The question is has the new addition to the family been completed and are there any photos ? Come on Col how about some attachments. <img src=

No keeping secrets here is there! (Not really a secret though) <img src=

alt=

XTC has returned to S.A. after pining for those cool shark infested waters near Adelaide. <img src=

alt=

/>

I do have a new boat which at this time consists of 2 hulls and some lengths of aluminium. The hulls are at Geltek awaiting the arrival of the new centreboards so they can be fitted to the cases.

I'm still hoping to have the boat on the water for the N.S.W. states, but time, money and Peter C'S availability will tell. <img src=

alt=

/>

On that note: 10q to Peter C & Todd from Geltek for there help thus far. I'd still be sitting around scratching my head wondering what to do if it wasn't for these guys. <img src=

alt=

/>

Still lots to do before end of Oct. <img src=

alt=

/>

When she's finished I'll get photo's. Canny wait!!! <img src=

/>

Hey Col,
That would be great if you could make it to the NSW states. <img src=

alt=

So far we should have 4-5 cat rig boats 1-2 sloop rig.
Fingers crossed your boat is ready. <img src=

alt=

/>
Is it a fay boat or ply? <img src=

Suppose if I can't get the new boat finished I could paint the wooden platform that I have in the backyard with some house paint to protect the wood for the weekend, put the rig on her and sail her. The wood's still good but the paint's had it. The dog might be annoyed that I've taken her kennel though. <img src=

alt=

/>

Hope it doesn't come to this but it might be a plan B.

There will be 4 wodden boats that I am aware of..maybe more will pop out of the woodwork on the day..

My rebuild should be ready for the ocasion I just don't think I will be as ready. My diet is not going too good.
Still, cant wait, 4 weeks and counting. It sounds like there will be a good turn out of all classes to race the Top Gun reggatta ..I also better check my insurance is up to date <img src=
