/>, Queensland. Picked up the beast afew months ago from Woolongong. I purchased it through Ebay.
Love the boat, especially like the fact that one person can rig it and get it in and out by themself, no need to rely on a crew.
Not real fast yet, didn't know there was so many tech aspects to sailing.
Bought some Dotan rudders for the boat, kick ups like the hobie, made a real difference getting on and off the beach. Made the Mossie point and handle a lot nicer. Now have a set of Hobie Carbon Fibre rudders for sale. Will post photos later.
Have't gone out on the trap yet (chicken), but I'm working up to it. 90kg says I don't have to go out (not yet anyway <img src=
alt=
/>)
Enjoy reading the forum, any pointers helping me to point higher to the wind would be greatly appreciated. Love the boat, love the class and I'm looking forward to many years of sailing.

Welcome to the Mozzie class and clan. Hope you have many years of enjoyment in the class.
To get the most out of the pointing ability you will probably have to play with the sail settings; outhaul and downhaul and mast rotation. Try on a light to medium day so that you can see or feel the effects of each. Naturally the flatter the sail the higher you will point but you will sacrifice power and speed. Its a matter of playing until you get it right then try to remember the settings or mark them on the boom and mast.
As for getting out on trapeze, set up the trapeze ring at the height so that you can easily hook on and just pivot out with your legs. Yes it does take some practice but the first time you are out on the wire and see a totally different perspective to the youll probably never want to sail any other way. <img src=

/> And 90 kg is not too heavy; probably out on trapeze at around 13 knots.

half the fun is going out on trap and another member of the forum weighs 94kg and he won the open division at the bullets regatta at pittwater so you shouldnt have that many problems getting there.

I happen to know for a fact that the fastest cat rig Mossie sailor in OZ is about 90kg. So hope you enjoy the Mossie as much as he does and look forward to seeing all you heavy weights going faster.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. Finally got out on the wire, it's a different ballgame. Feels great, only problem is the 6 week xmas break in the sailing calander.
Colmc, huge weight difference, will give details after I give my wife some scales for Christmas. I find the Dotans fantastic, especially getting on and off the beach in a blow.
