[#19944]

Have been giving this some thought for some time now, and Iam just wondering how many people interstate would be coming up for this.
If I get enough wooden boats I will be having a seperate division for those guys, so they have something to race for and hopefully trying to get a few of the older boats in the backyard out again.
At this stage Iam looking at a 2 day regatta to try and get a few more interstate guys up to this regatta.
So could I get a few yes/no, maybe's/definates for research purposes.
Or email some suggestions through the nswmossie.com site.
regards
william

G'day William,

Are you planning for this regatta to be just for wooden mozzies? Are you planning for a separate race for wooden boats or prizes for the leading wooden boats in a combine fleet of glass and wooden boats? Maybe interested, depends on dates and accomodation (camping's good). I have a glass boat.

Hi Col
Im going to run the races by having two seperate starts.
1 for cat and 1 for sloop.
Then from those races we'll have 1,2,3 for fiberglass and wooden for both sloop and cat rigged boats and if enough people turn up might have an overall winner for cat and sloop rigged boats.
Whole purpose of this is because nsw is a bit behind in regards to the mossie seen so there wont be any glass mossies from nsw turning up so Im hoping to get the ply boats out of the garage and out racing again. Then maybe a few might get the bug again and might buy a glass boat later on.
Im also hoping that we can get enough kite boats up to give a demo on there performance as people from other classes might be interested in the mossie if they have kites.

The Kurnell Top gun regatta is usually at the end of October. Are you going to have the states there? It saves organising the whole event from scratch.

The first half of October will be busy for the Victorians with the

seniors

regatta in Adelaide and the Cat Champs at McRae.

Hi Tim,
Thats the plan, but still waiting for some replies from a couple of other clubs.
Also considering a few places south so it isnt to far for the interstate guys to travel.
cheers

Hi all,
This years top gun regatta was held on the last w/e of october, So Im guessing that it will be on around the same time again.
It would be good to hold the state titles with this regatta as we can show case in NSW that the mossie class is still alive and kicking, And even get a few to change classes.
cheers

Bump

The committee at Kurnell needs rough numbers for the mossie fleet.

It will be at the top gun regatta on botany bay.

That sounds good. The last time we sailed at Kurnell was the Mossie Nationals 96/97. At this stage count us in as two boats, one wood, one glass and both with kits. If it is a NSW states they will have to stay in the trailer.

Hi Peter,
At this stage only sloop and cat rigged boats but Im looking at having a seperate race down the track up here for the kite boats to show case there performance capabilities against other classes. Hopefully that might get a few more people interested.
This regatta for the kites Im going to have to work with the vic and sa sailors to get as many kite boats up here.
Who knows there might be 2 up here as well <img src=

William,
We expected no Kits would be the order of the day. We may ad them after the races if there was time and for a little fun. Both Steve and myself should be sloop this year. Steve didn't sail at all last season. This season has found a crew and is giving First Try the once over.

Will,

Depending on a few issues, like dates and whether I can find a suitable crew (light and with a bit of experience would be good) I will bring my boat back with me when I go back to school after October break (read holidays and our opening day...Long weekend, Lake Bonney in SA)) as I will be studying in NSW for the remainder of this year.

Sounds like fun and certainly more fun for a weekend than studying.

I aim to make it to your states, and I will have the spinnaker rigged whether we use them or not - for between race entertainment [Linked Image]

I think it has to be a N.S.W. Mozzie member who becomes N.S.W. State Champion, I don't think an interstater can hold that title.

If some one from another state goes to the trouble of sailing in a state title they should be able to get the prize.
I have done that in classes before and have had people come to my state and claim the title as well. Just makes every one try harder.

Looks like all you have to do to be a state champ (nsw) is to become a NSW Member <img src=

All locked in for the 27-28 of october.

entry fee entitles you to race the top gun and state titles so you could end up with 2 or 3 trophies at the end.

12 weeks to go but whose counting.
I should have my wireless camera ready for this regatta so will be good to finally have a video of a bunch of mossies racing around.
