mystere 5.5
I am looking seriously at getting one. Anyone have any comments to make.
I just visited the factory and met the owner who is a very genuine guy.
I heard good comments on them and the boat looks very solid and well designed. Price is very competitive and it is conveniently located, as I live not too far away.
I am looking at the Mystere 5.5 . (www.mystere.ca)
Hi Alan, I can recommend the Mystere 5.5. It is nearly as fast as the 6.0 and probably the fastest 18 footer on the market w/o a spinnaker. It has nearly identical hulls to the 6.0 which allows it to carry a big load and/or crew for cruising or allows it to be pushed hard for racing. It would not be difficult to add a spinnaker and snuffer set-up and have a very fast 18' spinnaker cat and possibly for Formula 18 racing. You will find that the Mystere owner you met will stand behind his boats for any service work you may ever need, also. Go for it!!

Hi Alan
Not sure if your main interest is racing , but just in case ,-
Mystere also makes a great very similar Formula 18 w spin .
The N A Formula 18 championships are in Quebec in 04
not too far away , It would be an interesting and fun goal with a new F-18 cat to practise and train on to race in it. The spin snuffer rigged cats do require a good crew and take some additional time {and spills} to learn if your not yet familiar with spin rigged catamarans .
This F-18 group may provide a larger race organization and class events to sail in over time.

What about the 10 foot wide version. (I am using a friend's keyboard and it has a French keyboard and I don't know how to make a question mark)
I rarely tow it and it's apparently only ten minutes to reassemble it if you remove the crossbars.
I'd love to get the spinnaker, but my budget is overboard. (two daughters in college) Even if only to look at it flying. Also I suspect I will be single handing generally.
I am thinking the Quebec City part is doable as I live in Labrador and Quebec City is on my way to my vacation. Hmmm!
Thanks for the link!
