How difficult do you guys find righting a M5.5 (’18)? I’m about 155 pounds and just under six feet, and I’m wondering if I could right it by myself just using a line or if I need a righting pole?

On another note:

Anyone knows where I could get a replacement tramp for a ’95 M5.5? Or any companies that produce aftermarket tramps that could be installed?

Thanks.

You are going to need help righting that boat. I've used a large Murrays righting bag to right by myself and it worked better than two people. I never tried a pole system so I can't comment other to say from what I've seen-read, some people like them and some have trouble with them.

Hobie Gary has a system he devloped that seems to work well, haven't tried it or seen it. I sure he'll comment when he sees this.

If you decide to go with the bag make sure you tie a stopper knot at the end of the line that raises the bag up. It could come uncleated after the boat is righted and before you get a chance to recover it. Result one lost sinking bag.

How do I know this?? never mind. <img src=

Forgot about the tramp. Try here.

http://www.multihullnets.com/

Not cheap but very well made. You might be able to save a few dollars by having a friendly boat dealer or such order it for you ( they get it wholesale ) and pass a little saving on to you.

You can also check out the catsailor store.

Just so you know, the Mystere 5.5 and the 6.0 tramp are the same.

You could always take the tramp to a few local sail/canvas shops. They may be able to recreate a cheap one. Bay Sails in Hamilton is a Haarstick dealer but does a lot of canvas work and he has repaired my tramp before.

Thanks...going to have to check those choices out. The bag might be a good option. Not as expensive and probobly less complicated.
