Let's hear some ideas. I've heard a lot of people asking "What is NAMSA working on now". While the current answer is, "membership drive", we need something more. Let's hear some ideas about what we can do that is inexpensive but value added to a NAMSA membership.
1 - DISCOUNTED Catsailor magazine subscription (dont' think we ever discussed this as an option - wadayatink?)
2 - List of recommended safety equipment to have on board
3 - List of suppliers of equipment, flags, and bouys - perhaps we can find someone that will give NAMSA members a small discount on these items...Layline, Murrays, APS...?
4 - Racing / Scoring / course recommendations or guidelines
5 - Regatta software with a sailor database (boat type, Portsmouth mods, payment status, etc.) and scoring software (I'm already working on this one - Tim, I could probably use some help making some kind of interface that outputs a web "postable" format
Let's hear it!
We do need to get started on some projects that are listed below in the Forum -- remember we decided to thread different subjects and then discuss them.
We already have committee chairs in place for a number of those items -- now we just have to start acting on them. Some do not require money at this time, and for those that do, we can at least get ground work started.
My pet is to really hit the Youth sailing, Insurance, and the magazine.
I know that some of you have been getting some neg. responses, but I will bet they are few. Most folks are for it, just procrastinating.
So, let's get pepped up again and really get on this, OK?

I have brought up several times ways to "link" NAMSA membership and Catsailor mag. subscriptions together-
As I remember- the answer Mary gave was that she could not "discount" the current subs. any further so I had suggested ways to keep her income steady but still link the two-
Never heard much back (but then there were forum problems, we lost a lot and I couldn't post for awhile- So who knows??)-

I felt like we talked about everything BUT doing a small discount on Catsailor - however, if you ask my girlfriend you might discover that my memory isn't all that good!
I recall Mary saying that they had to get something like $15 per subscriber for the magazine to make ends meet....I don't recall exactly either.
