Jay,
I just found all the paper work on the Insurance. They sent me the Regatta Liability Insurance brochure and one they call the Burgee Program.
The RLI is what we want for sure. The Burgee thing sounds like it is for some ritzy YC and expensive.

If you still do not have a flier, Call them at 800-262--8911 (offices of Gowrie, Barden and Brett) and have them send the RLI brochure.
Certainly sounds like it would do the job.
One of the questions is Number of Regattas planned for 2004:
Guess we would have to have all our sanctioned races known before we apply for the insurance

The cost is $300 per year. And $100 for Additional Insureds (upt to 6 for that price), but that does not seem to mean $100 per event.

I think we really need to know the entire skinny on this before the meeting on the 18th of Feb.

Rick

Rick,

We'll probably need locations as well, since most municipal locations (parks, etc.) will requre NAMSA to list them as an additional insured for Liability.

Are we thinking one qualifier regatta in each division and one Nationals?

The only point I was trying to hash out with them was the "co-sponsor" thing. Your example of having NAMSA sanction a CABB event was used. They felt you needed TWO RLI policies (one for CABB and one for NAMSA). Since CABB is a non-profit, they could probably be named additional insured. But it would probably be easier to just host a NAMSA regatta and utilize CABB assistance (with proper recognition of CABB, of course) which might keep things simple for the underwriting folk.

We should also consider requiring the insurance stuff from the participants as I mentioned way back when to help insulate NAMSA from any potential claims. Helps to keep the rates down on the policy...

I am supposing that when we sanction regattas, they are not being run by another organization, but rather as a Chapter of NAMSA. Don't see how they would require both to join.

Whatever it takes, can we get something concrete to offer before the online meeting?

I don't see an issue if we are sanctioning events hosted by NAMSA chapters.

I'll dig up the policy at home and try to scan a copy so that everyone can look at it when we're 'conferencing'

Thanks, Jay.
Jake says you have not yet registered on to the Yahoo Chat Room. Good idea for you and the rest of the Board and Committee Chairs to get going. It takes about a half hour to complete, so please get on it.
Thanks
Rick
