Hey Gang,

Let's face it...this organization has gone dormant. The only organization benefitting from NAMSA's money is Wells Fargo (i.e. monthly checking account fees). Before they suck our account dry, I propose we use the remaining funds ($673.77) for something worthwhile (insurance?, Catsailor Magazine?, Rick's Retirement fund?), close the checking account, and let NAMSA go back to sleep until a group of folks come along who want to invest the time and energy to make it a viable organization again.

Thoughts?
Bob

use the money to buy Rowell's marina and convert it to a cat friendly resort with a few cabanas

Do we need a meeting? Is there another alternative?

My personal opinion is that we need some high profile sailors to occupy the officers positions. Who the hell cares what I do, think, or say. I only sail local races. How can I sanction anything.

NAMSA needs national representation (as implied) on the board.

If the majority of catsailors feel that they are being represented by other entities then NAMSA will never prosper

Admittedley, I took a position out of enthusiasm. There was no support, there fore no work to be attended to.

I applaud the effort and fully support the concept and will support any further efforts made.

I sort of agree. On the other hand, it seems that every few years or so, some major problem crops up and there is a cry for an organization such as this.

We have all gone to a lot of trouble getting it set up and organized. Can we not just keep it in place and on the ready.

As for the money, That amount would certainly pay for all my expenses for the rest of my life. <img src="<>/grin.gif" alt="grin" title="grin" height="15" width="15" />
Bob, is there any way we could get it into a free account.., or maybe even some sort of investment that could easily be liquidated (Some sort of Fund, perhaps). Heck, stocks and Mutuals are down.., may be a good time to invest.

Tradewinds is coming up. Will there be enough members to form a quorum?

Gents... What are your thoughts. Much time has passed since we have had any activity. Is there an opportunity to make forward motion at this time?

Sounds like there isn't much happening with the organization any more. Closing down the account sounds like a good idea. Possibly donate the money to the Alter Cup Fund or to a Youth organization that promotes cats like in Miami.
