Regatta for NAMSA to sanction
Y'all may have seen my posts about holding a singlehanded regatta. Here's the chance for NAMSA to sanction a race.
The plan so far is to hold it in conjunction with Slip to Ship, which is held Memorial Day weekend at Ocean springs Mississippi. While the other boats head off to E. Ship island, the singlehanders will have triangles in the bay.
What comprises NAMSA sanctioning? I'm ready to do it, and it's not too soon to start working on this race...

Hi Tami,
Same here! Here at Rick's Place in Key Largo we will be hosting the F18HT North Americans (the F16HP folks are also thinking of doing their NAs at the same time), and then we have the Wave Nationals, the Key Largo Steeplechase, and the Tradewinds Midwinter Open Cat Nationals.
I would like all of these to be NAMSA sanctioned events. As a matter of fact, would anybody minded if we sanctioned the Tradewinds as the first NAMSA North Americans? I think protocol says there should be bids and then voted on by the board. Whatever it takes. It is already a big regatta (last year we had 109 boats) and this could be a really nice jumpstart.
Perhaps we could arrange some way to make this even a Youth NA.
Let me know your thoughts.
Jay has been working hard on getting some sort of insurance coverage with regard to sanctioning.
The good part is that during these events we should be able to sign up a lot more members.
We do need to get some unified and generic sailing instructions layed out. And some generic forms for such things as registration, protests, etc.
We can set folks up with Sailwave Scoring as well.
Rick
