Hey guys!

I need some help understanding my role in this organization. Is there a job description for the Sanctioning Committee? I don't know what to do......

Hi Eric,
Well, as Pres. I created the Committee and you are the chair. The Committee was formed to Develop and Maintain the basics of how, why, when and where we santion events.
However, we certainly can extend that to approving event for sanctioning.
At this point, there are not many that have asked for sanctioning.
Of course, the NAMSA Nationals/Tradewinds Mindwinter Open Cat Nationals coming up in January over ML King Weekend is definitely a NAMSA sanctioned event.

Otherwise, the definition of the the Committee is pretty much up to you.., with approval from the President for any major changes, etc.

Hmmm! Does that muddy the waters even more, or clear anything up.

Sounds like I have a lot of autonomy. Do you think I should approach the members to try to sanction their events?

Can we identify candidates from the membership lists?

We do have the NAMSA Forum for open discussions about NAMSA that is open to all.
Think it serves the purpose.

Yes, you are more or less the czar. We can solocit groups to see if they want event sanctioning, but I would think it is a bit late this year -- most folks have already nestled down with their present schedules.

However, the season is half over now for most of NA. And as we at Catsailor go about trying to get schedules from the various clubs around the country, that would be a good time to line up the sanctioning for 2005.

Perhaps we could set up some sort of mailing or include something in the NAMSA News in Catsailor. In the upcoming issue I have the Sanctioning we came up with this spring listed. So, that would be sort of a start on the upcoming year.

This is our chance. As chairman, I recognize all of you as sanctioning agents. Work the membership to try to thread NAMSA into all the activities in 2005.

Rick, what about a NAMSA NOR area on the Catsailor site?

We do have our Events Page and my idea was to put in the NAMSA for events that we were sanctioning. However, we could make a category for NAMSA sanctioned events.
