Wave North American Championship, Notice of Racing (NOR)
November 13th thru 15th, 2009
Location: Melbourne, FL, at Performance Sail and Sport, the Organizing Authority, one tenth mile north of Pineda causeway off US-1, on river.
Rules: The regatta will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the Prescriptions of Sailing, this NOR, Wave Class Rules and the Sailing Instructions provided on the day of racing.
This regatta is open to all boats of the Wave Class. Eligible boats may enter by completing the registration form, Paying the registration fee and sending or dropping it to the Organizing Authority, Performance Sail and Sport, 6055 North US-1, Melbourne, FL 32940. Late entries will be taken up until 11:00AM, Friday November 13th, 2009 at the office of Performance Sail and Sport.
Schedule: Registration any time up until cutoff as stated above.
Racing: Friday November 13th, starting at approximately Noon.
Saturday November 14th, Starting at Approximately 10:00AM
Sunday November 15th, starting at approximately 10:00AM, NO races will start after 1:00PM.
Will race as many races as practical, conditions allowing.
First Warning signal: No earlier than 11:55AM, November 13th, 2009.
Sailing instructions will be available at Performance Sail and sport on the first day of racing.
Courses: Courses will be the normal “W” or “X” courses for Waves. Course designation will be signaled from RC boat before each race. Diagrams will be provided in the SI.
Rule 44’1 is changed so that the two turn penalty is replaced by a one turn penalty to include one tack and one gybe.
Scoring: Scoring will be the low point system. One throw out race will be permitted for each six races in the total series of races over the three days of racing; i.e. 6 races, one throw out; 10 races, one throw out; 12 races, two throw outs, etc..
Protests: Will only be accepted, if written on provided forms and turned in to the Organizing Authority within one hour of arrival of the RC after each day of racing, for races on that day. An arbitrator will be appointed by the Organizing Authority, and will hear protests in the approximate order received.
Boats arriving for racing may use the park just south of Performance Sail and Sport for unloading and loading and leave trailers in the park for the duration of the regatta.
Disclaimer of liability: Competitors participate in this regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4. Decision to race. The organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
Insurance: Each participating boat shall be required to be insured with valid third party liability insurance.
