Can someone please make some suggestions as to fitting footstraps on the I17. Are they needed and where to put them if so. The only inspection opening is behind the rear beam. The hulls are carbon fibre. Just purchased the cat and havent been out as yet. Thanks Devon

[Nacra 17
DESIGNER: Ross Guinea
BUILDERS: Brisbane Catamaran Centre
LENGTH: 5.3m (17’3”)
BEAM: 2.45m (8’)
DRAFT: n/a
DISPLACEMENT]

This is a Aussie N-17

Put the footstraps between the port & rear beam.

Note: Performance Sports (Nacra) never built the Aussie version of the N17, see F17 specs http://www.f17class.com/index.html They built two models, the N17 (I-17) & F17 (I-17R). Starting in 2008, Performance Sports only offer the F17 model.

I would say you would need the footstraps. There are times when you will be on a reletively tight reach and will be glad you have that added stability. Don't use them to lift the boat though.
