Me and my family are thinking about trailering the Wave to Fort DeSoto Park in a few weeks. Any comments or recommendations?

Check out this web site if you haven't already:

were you planning on camping? If so, call early for reservations and try to get a site with water acess (not seawall), tell the operator what its for. I'm not sure if you can reserve by phone or not, used to have to do it in person. A little hot in the summer if you're not on the water, but a great place to sail nonetheless, particularly with a boardless boat like the Wave. Have fun!

Great site. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give the board a report when we get back.

You can only make a reservation in person at the office at the park.

The launches are great; concrete, wide, gentle slope, plenty of parking.

If you camp, the raccoons will do anything to get to your ice chest. If you leave camp with no one there they will tear into a tent to plunder it's contents and they will jump onto your car to see what's inside.

Check the tides for the pass and the lagoon. An onshore wind near sunset is very dramatic and can reach a sustained 20 mph for an hour or so.
