Yep.....While I haven't personally seen one, Hobie 17 sailors reportedly have hooky thingys that will break off when subjected to rough treatment! They even dedicated a long article on hooky thingy surgery in the This Old Hobie ((AKA Hobie Journal Of Medicine) section of the Winter 2013 Hobie Hotline.
