Does the mast of a 1979 Prindle 18 rotate? Thanks, Jim

Yes, It does not have a set stop like the Prindle 16. You control the rotation with a line from the boom to the rotation arm off the mast.

jima4425,
There is a clam cleat on the boom.
Tie a 3/16" line to the cleat (bowline) and route the line forward to the point of the wishbone and back through the teeth of the cleat. Tie a stopper knot on the end. This gives you a 2:1 rotation purchase.

Hey Jima4425, nice to meet ya.

I am just south of you in Magna, Utah. I sail with the Utah Sailing Association and we have 3 of our annual sailing events up a Bear lake right on the Idaho border. The association is there Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor day weekends every year. I am usually there the last 2 for sure. Not keen on camping in the cold for Memorial Day so we do no always make it to that one.

I sail a Prindle 18 as well and would happy to help if you have any questions. We do a little unofficial racing but it mostly just for fun.

The Utah Sailing Association also hosts the Utah Summer Games Catamaran, Dingy, Windsurf, Kiteboard, and SUP events at Dear Creek which is between Provo and Heber. I won't be there this year because I will back at Bear Lake for a family event though.

Let me know if you plan to do any sailing in Utah and maybe I'll see ya there.
