Goodall F18 C2 needs a new tramp and sails.
I'm contemplating purchasing a Goodall F18 C2 that needs a new tramp and sails and perhaps other bits.
Anybody know of an active Goodall dealer to supply these, or should I go to a sailmaker?
I called Red Gear Racing (Fun in The Sun), but got no answer.
Thanks

Guys.... Got hold of Jill Nickerson of Fun in the Sun while she was driving somewhere, so she couldn't quote definite stocks and prices of tramps and sails, but at least gave me a good ball-park of the details. She also helped me determine if the asking price of the C2 was appropriate.
So the result was I called up the owner of the C2 and made an offer.... and she's (C2) coming home next week! YEAH!!
She needs a little TLC, but she seems to be very solid.

With the new sails, are you going to go with the decksweeper cut? or the classic cut?
Post some pics once you get her home!
@jonathan Yeah, going with the fat-head (not the deck sweeper) due to Jill Nickerson's recommendations.
She indicates that the deck sweeper is good for light crew weights and keeps the center of effort a little lower for the light crews. My wife is around 125-130 lbs (she's a power-lifter!) and I'm around 215 lbs at fighting weight. So our combined weight is closer to being on the heavy side for the cat I guess.
Some pix for your viewing pleasure.
Nice ride.
I really liked our C2, despite racing in some big breeze it never felt out of control. I was tempted to make that guy an offer.
I concur with sticking with the traditional sail plan.
I never went to go look at it. I can’t really comment on what an offer might’ve been.
I sold mine in 2020 or so, Unfortunately, it seems like I cannot buy it again for what I sold it for five years ago.
Well, I *might* have gotten a good deal with the C2. Originally, the seller wanted $7000. I ran away after looking it over. Over a couple of weeks after, the price gradually came down to $5000.
It needs a little bit of fixing up... he never covered the boat.
I hope the hulls are water-tight.... but I wonder.... the last two days of light and hard rain collected about a half-cup of water in each hull, even with the ports well-covered with mylar and tape to allow some air circulation. The cover is going on it today! I will have to try pressure tests on the hulls.
Daggers' trailing edges are kinda chewed. Rudder blades look pretty nice. Rudder lock-down struts need some work-- evidence of rudders hitting the bottom and compressing the struts' steel hardware. Tiller bar connections are non-existent. Tramp is trash with rips forming with little pressure. Running rigging is old, blocks appear to have a LOT of UV exposure but are all accounted for and seem to function well, except the main traveler car needs new balls. Standing rigging needs replaced, as does the trapeze system.
Sail windows have holes, some of which were taped. The remainder of the sails appear to be usable for just messing about. Spin snuffer chute is toast.
The boat came with two spins, one with a few minor tape patches, and the other looks practically new. The previous owner didn't fly spins at all.
Cross beams look almost new, except there is a very small surface crack at one of the main beam rivets on the starboard end of the beam, located over the outside-most beam-hull bolt. This rivet is one of two that secures the internal aluminum structural webbing to the interior top of the beam.
Mast looks nice and straight, and owner indicated that he replaced the diamonds last year. They're still loose. I need to make the mast head water-tight. It has a poorly-fitting aluminum sheet cap that is riveted on to the mast. As is, Water would easily flood the mast when capsized.
Beach balls with padded hull cradles are in good condition.
Trailer is galvanized and in good condition and with new tires/wheels, except for the wiring which was not working. Currently working on rewiring with new LED lights.
New tramp from Red Gear Racing is about $1100 + duty + tariffs.
Standing rigging and trapeze wires from RGR might be around $400+-
Sail suit from RGR (slightly used) may be $1800 - 2200+, depending.
Running rigging $$ ??
Spi snuffer $ ??
So, to get her all put back together and ready for fun wind conditions, I'll likely have around ten grand into her.

$10,000 for a fully refreshed C2 doesn’t strike me as a bad deal. I should admit though, I’ve been out of that game for a while.
I would just buy whatever you need from red gear racing. Count your blessings on how easy that is. My wildcat was a pain to get parts for.
@bacho Yup. For a reconditioned performance cat I believe that figure is reasonably inexpensive comparatively to other cats.
I was talking with Hardy Peters of East Coast Sailboats (near OBX,NC) a few weeks ago and he quoted a few prices on his reconditioned NACRAs. But without trailers. This C2 will be cheap comparatively, especially when considering the included trailer and beach balls, etc.
Talked to a newer owner of a used Hobie Getaway that we (Warren Mitchell and I) were racing a few weekends ago.... $8000, but I think it was mostly ready to sail when he took it home.
I was kinda comparing prices with the past previously-owned (used) cats that i've purchased in the 1980's and 1990's: (Sizzler Super 16=$500, Z-cat=$500 (H16 clone), 1986 P18=$1000 in almost new condition, 1983 H18=$1500 in very good condition, all of these fresh-water boats sailed on L. Erie)....yeah, sticker shock!
