has anyone had an issue with length of rudder pins hitting drain plug and then sticking up too high above deck lip? any issues you guys know of?

A Prindle rudder casting has an upper limit built in that stops the rudder pin.
About what make of cat are you talking?

On the H14, the rudder pins interfere with drain plug removal and replacement. It's pretty much been that way forever. I use hairpin cotter pins on the bottom of the rudder pins so that I can slide them up out of the way when I need to remove the drain plugs.
