[#1815]

I'm in need of sails for a supercat17. i read some where there is another boat that has the same sized sails. i have been searching and searching for the what boat it is but i have not been able to find it.

does anyone know which sails are compatible. the sc17's main is a boom less sail but I'm more interested in the jib. i have a tired main for now. it does not have a roller furler.

a P18 jib works but is rather large and needs special block placement to be sheeted correctly.
Do you have any pictures of your boat so we can recommend some things.

sorry can't answer the Q and have never seen a supercat of any flavour in the flesh

But, if you do a search for the texel rating spreadsheet, download it and carefully go through the specs, you will find that it has all the sail measurements of all the common cats. so you will be able to work out which cat jib is closest in size to what you need

off the top of my head i would suggest comparing the 17' nacra 5.2 jib, but as an overlapper it may require different jib block placement

P18 jib and N5.2 jib (both mentioned above) are fairly interchangeable. I've used a P18 jib on my 5.2 several times. Only difference I noticed is that the P18 jib sits a couple inches lower (longer in luff and leech).

Recapping the p18 jib. Our SC has a blade jib now, sheeted from the front beam. I tried the p18 jib and while losing 1 or 2 degrees upwind the downwind and reaching speed goes way up.

I have a 5.2 jib I'm selling--see if you can get measurements off your SC17 jib and I can compare.

Check with Aquarius, they have a used sail inventory and may have something sitting around.

Bug Tussle= Bug Tussle Steak House. This is where we use to go to see who could eat the 96 oz. steak. If you finished it with the trimmings (baked potato) it was free. That folks, is a 6 pound slab of beef. The restaurant has since closed but it was a great tradition for many years. You can learn all about the local culture here. Be prepared to LYFAO:
