I am hoping to order a new jib for my 83 5.0. Zipper vs hank on attachment for non- furling? I have experience with a furler on my HC18. I had to replace the zipper a couple of times on my 'everyday' jib. Is it that much better? Thanks, tom

It really comes down to what you are wanting with the boat... the zipper luff will give you better (smoother luff) sail shape. The hanks are a bit more convenient where you can drop the jib very easily (on the beach), secure it and not have it lufffing or worry about wind shifts. There will be people that will say that is no big deal... mostly it's not but similar to using a furler - you never realize the convenience until you use it. For the type of sailing I do, having a cruising jib with hanks and racing jib with zipper luff would be great...
