[#31842]

I was taking advantage of a spring day to clean up the hulls of my H14.

I decided to remove the 8-10 registration stickers that had accumulated. I used a heat gun to release one corner of the stickers.  This allowed me to get a good enough grasp to pull the remainder.  Just as the last of the stickers pulled off a patch of top coat came off as well 🙁

Any suggestions for repair?

I have limited fiberglass experience.

Don't panic, it's not actually a fiberglass issue.  Get a Gelcote repair kit.  You win in the colour-matching department, since "white" isn't one of the more difficult ones.  You should be able to clean off that adhesive residue with acetone.

Thanks Jonathan.

Looks like many options for repair kits.  Does brand matter or are they all about the same?

Yup, clean it up with acetone, starting fluid or such.  For the repair, I've used this with success: FGCI Gelcoat Putty Repair Kit - FGCI

It already has the necessary wax or whatever required for curing, but you'll need to mix it with the MEKP catalyst (and follow the rest of the instructions).  I'm not much of a glass guy either, but this stuff is easy-peasy for cosmetic gelcoat work.
