Painting a comptip mast

Another Hobie sailor at my lake painted his mast, including the comptip. Looks pretty good. I don't expect it to last a long time but who knows.
So I'm wondering about painting my comptip for protection against UV attack.
Any opinions about this?
Does Krylon spray paint conduct electricity? Not an issue where I sail because there are no power lines in the area, but wondering.
Does it provide any UV protection? The mast is up from May to October and it would be nice if painting it helped protect it somewhat.
