CABB CALENDAR 2004
For all those that are interested, following is the Calendar of Events organized by CABB for the remainder of 2004. More specific dates will be available as the event date nears.
July - Wild Thing Buoy Races - At Rickenbacker Causeway
August - Black Ledge Distance Race - At Rickenbacker Causeway
September - Key Biscayne Double Distance Race - At Rickenbacker Causeway
October - Fowey Light Distance Races - At Rickenbacker Causseway
November - Biscayne Bay Buoy Bash - At Rickenbacker
December - Mellenium Cup Distance Race - At Rickenbacker
January 2004 - Tradewinds Regatta - At Elks Lodge, Tavernier key
The venue of the Tradewinds will not be the Elks Lodge. It is being planned to be back in Key Largo, based out of Gilberts.
Gilberts tore down the big barn and there is a lot of room there for lots of boats.
We had a lot of trouble at the Elks Lodge doing seminars in April -- they charged us a fortune to use the beach, didn't want to open the rest rooms, and got all sorts of flack from the Campers. In other words, we were treated as scum.
We canceled the second of the two seminars from the ELks and moved it to Gilberts.
The reason is the guy that invited us there in the first place is a sailor and now was demoted from the board of directors (or whatever) and a camper/RV lover guy took over.
THey were upset that we held meetings in the Chickee Hut on the beach -- we were blocking their view.

hey Arbo,
Did you get out on Tuesday? I'm completely swamped with work and meetings so I couldn't have gone out this last Tuesday anyway. Thanks for the invite, though. I bet weekdays on the bay are the best since you probably don't have as many PWC's to dodge. One of these days I promise to meet up with you.
Take care
Yep, Wild Thing Buoy Races Saturday July 17th - Crew meeting 10:30. Are there alot of people on the beach on weekdays Arbo? My wife hates it there because my kids are small and they always fall and get scrapes on their knees from all the rocks and glass. I love it because the sailing is much easier than battling the waves in the ocean.
Robi, They meet on Hobie Beach, which is the beach where the Catamaran concession is but a little bit down the beach. Ive been there a couple of times in the winter and it was great. but in the summer, if you don't get there very early there is no way to get in. The locals are elbow to elbow thick (with a few gaps left for boom boxes ,of course.)
Anybody need a NEWBIE crewmember? for that event? I have my own cat, but I have never raced her. I have already pitch poled, fliped you name I have done it. I would love to learn the ropes of cat racing, wich in the future is what I really want to do.
If anyone needs a crewmember let me know I am more than willing to learn.
