Don't scare the kids.

Its important that these boats are not over powered and are very simple (no boards and only one rope to pull). Or the kids might not be able to handle them. We don't want ther kids being scared off. <img src=

I'm not gonna lie, thats pretty intimidating! I dont think I would be very comfortable sailing my cat in that haha. Sure it'd be fun as hell, but probably not very safe.

Sailing in stuff like that with a cat is a blast. Until you break something that is.. I know for sure I would keep my kids on land unless they really wanted to go out there on a day like that. Good point though SC.. Not all kids are intimidated by a challenge.

RG,

Optimists are dangerous boats. They are so undercanvassed and wide that kids can sail when grownup's boats can't. Then conditions worsen, they capsize, can't keep it upright for time enough to bail out the water and need assistance in worse conditions than grownup's boats. Been there and done that - both the optimist and the rescue.
