Blade F18
After a busy few weeks we got to Forster for the F18 Nationals.
Went out for a sail the day before and the boat felt ok. Had a bit of lee helm coming through the Marstrom rudders with the kite up.
Raced heat 1 on the Friday and were fighting it out for 2nd place for most of the race. Ended up 4th due to my error in a gybing angle.
Still very happy knowing that there is improvement to come.
The weather was all over the place for the next 6 races.
We were equal 9th before the last 3 races and very happy with that.
Had a bad race to start off then came back with a 10th.
The time between races was too long and I had to get back to Adelaide ASAP so did not do the last race.
We finished 13th out of 34 which was better than I hoped and if we sailed in the last race should have had a top 10 finish.
Credit must go to Phill Brander who came up with the hull design and Marcus Towell who made the sails and along with Nicolas Cox is a partner in the project.
I am very confident that this boat will get much quicker. We need to build a better kite and make some small adjustments to the mast and mainsail.
Regards
Chris Dean
