[#17702]

A friend inquired about buying a used F-16 today, and I promised to try helping him out finding some boats.

I tried looking at the class site at: http://www.formula16.org but there was no classifieds section (at least not that I could find).

Any leads to where I can find some F-16s to look at in northern Europe? Boats must be ready to sail and in good shape (he dont want to spend much time fixing or converting a boat).
Anybody converting from a F-16 Taipan to Blade around?

Why do he want a F-16 instead of F-18 or a Tornado.. He want the solo option, easy handling on land and the ability to bring his 8 years old son or wife (or somebody else). AND he want to go fast, as he has crewed a bit on a Tornado..

Look at the Stealthmarine.co.uk web. Also look at catamaran.co.uk. You will find some F16s there.

Thank you David.

There was quite some boats at catamaran.co.uk. But I was hoping that there should be some a bit closer to Norway. Going all the way to the UK takes some time. Perhaps I can sell in some pub visits to him <img src=

I'm guessing from the remainder of your post that he is looking for secondhand boats right ? Besides you know where to find the new ones.

There are plenty to look at, sadly not many are for sale at this time.

There is one Stealth F16 on offer in NL at http://www.cat-house.nl/2hands.htm
The Taipans have none on offer at this time.
There may be another F16 that will find its way to the market in the next months. Also in Holland.

However the most active second hand fleet will be in England.

I think that Datchet (near London) has an older Stealth on offer as well, maybe at a very attractive price ?

What is his budget ?

Not officially (yet) but some are thinking about it. You can do 2 things, wait a few months till they pop up on the classifieds or approach them actively.

Little FEAT (Stealth R) will be for sale in the near future at present it is receiving some TLC. It's not quite a true F16 but did win the

Nations Cup

this year. For more info contact John or Sue @ Stealth Marine.
Seeing the photo's of Scooby's new super Stealth has just tipped the balance and GBR 555 should be hitting the water at Mumbles sometime in February, this will be the first time I have sailed a full on F16 and I am looking forward to it.
P.S I know it is not politically correct to advertise here but I thought that some people might be interested in this news.

Rick and Mary are pretty easy with the forum usage (many thanks to them). They don't mind people offering boats on the forums under the condition that a classified advertisement is also bought by the owner. The rates for these classifieds are very reasonable, so everyone should consider doing this.

I just wanted to point out that there is no reason not to offer boats to others through the forums, just buy a classified and you are free to do so; within good taste of course.

Mark, you can't bring a new Stealth F16 to the Zandvoort event ! You'll be unbeatable ! <img src=

(good news though, pairing up a good sailor with a fully optimized F16 is very good for the class in teh way of promotion)

Hans and Mark,

this is an old thread back from the summer. I was looking for a boat for a friend, but no luck back then unfortunately..

A classifieds section on the formula16.org site would be nice, but it can be a high maintenance section. As it is, boats are put up for sale all over, so finding whats on the market takes some time. Even a collection of links to where boats are put up for sale, like Stealth Marine, would help people who wants to get into the class with a used boat.

I think a collection of links to other classified sites would be a good idea. I don't fancy running a classifieds site myself, as you know, there are already enough different places to look.

I'm not - you don't need a faster boat <img src=

Still, great news. What spec have you gone for? Is this going to be another Scooby-style carbon fest?

Thanks Wouter, but Paul is curently beating me all to often recently and this has also had an effect on my decision to ditch Little Feat for a more competitive boat. Problem is that unless I make some serious money in the next couple of months I don't think I'll be able to afford the trip to Zandvort what with the new F16. I guess that I'll probably have to make do with our TT events next year which I think will be Mumbles (May) Saundersfoot (June) Weymouth (July - August) Isle of Sheppy (?) Datchet (September) Grafham (October) and I mustn't forget a family holiday.

Gahh Mark!

We will need some welsh humor at Zandvoort, so you will just have to convince your family that porridge is both tasty and good for them. I'll bring a tent with room for six, so no problem there.

Unfortunately, there will be slightly less carbon (alloy beams). This F16 is going to be extremely minimalist I'm not going to give to much away at present but as Mary suggested you might notice a bit of

cross pollenation

?
