We are having an open day at Datchet sailing club (west London) this weekend 19/20th. There will be half a dozen F16s on the water to try and laods of entertainment. All welcome. Free as well!

I still can't believe you sail in the cold iceberg-laden water. It took me days to get warm afterwards when I was there a couple of years ago, and I was on the rescue boat and only briefly jumped on a Stealth to help one get back to shore. Much happier in Asia where the water is never below 22 degrees celsius...

But for those interested. It is a good day. Still laugh at John Alani's massive nosedive that I got an excellent photo of.

Yep, that one. Well timed when taken from a moving speedboat methinks.

I know this shot was just before john went swimming; I've done the same thing a few times and not washed the sails. T foils do make a massive difference, but when they let go, they let go big time.

We have had quite a warm winter this year, with the exception of one weekend two weeks ago while I was doing an RYA instructors course, and it was as cold as it looks!

Sorry to post pictures of monohulls!

Gareth,

What is that in the back ground of the first shot....first glance I thought it was a wave breaking behind a breakwater.??

Marcus,

Now youv'e said that it does look like a wave, but its nothing so dramatic. It's just a snow covered bank, on the other side of the bank is the river Ouse.

And?

If the lake is frozen, it's too cold too go sailing.

If the snow / ice is too thick to get the dagger boards in, it's too cold to go sailing.....
