Go to http://www.f18.org.au/ and look at the photograph of one of the newer capricorn f18's that is displayed on the welcomes page..

Seems that "agent Orange" is contagious. After 2 F16's being painted in bright orange we are seeing other classes goign copy-cat !

Of course don't forget the original 16' orange cat - The 1979 Hobie Orange Crusher. Silver hulls, orange tramp and solid orange sails.

Hi all,

that Capricorn has been around for a couple of seasons, it's home is at Frankston Y.C. Port Philip Bay Vic. Have sailed against them at a number of regattas, I would call it Red in colour mind you I am Red Green colour blind and like all red pigments it is fading fast. Go the Blue Boats.

Regards Gary.

With a boat type that was launched only in spring 2004 ? When at time you couldn't order it in any colour.

How can that be ?

Hi Wouter,

I only know I sailed against them last season and it didn't look brand new then.

Regards Gary.

This is one of the earlier Capricorns - AUS built.

We have now had 3 Australian Championships with the Capricorns racing. First was in October 2003.

The first time I saw the red boat running around was October 2004 Nationals. The boat had been around before that. I'd guess that it is atleast 15 months old, may be more.

That boat is owned by a very good friend of mine. It is actually red and was launched June 2004. It is a capricorn with a slightly sad mainsail at the moment (His crew fell thru it last Saturday). I can assure you that the owner didn't copy anybody - more he got the red hulls to be a bit different! He can keep the maintenance bit though!!

AHPC will do anything if you ask. It's much easier when they are made about 100 mile from here

I wanted my blade in orange in the beginning. Orange is a really hard color to work with and match if any damages occured. Then I wanted red! But that brought the price up substantially, so I settled for the whitey whitness.

Its good though, because its a better canvas. LOL

Those graphics are long gone. The hurricanes took a toll on them. New stuff is in the works
