Sea state will play a part in the

attitude

of the hulls, but I've found that she seems to go well in chop when the weight is right at the side stay (my feet were on either side). I am by no means an expert, but tht is how I felt the boat best performed in lumpy conditions. Flat water and I may tend to get forward a little more....

Either way, if you are going to continue sailing uni - you need a new tiller extension. You need to be able to move forward in light air or be able to adjust forward controls. Check out the Ariba all carbon version tiller extension.

Any other opinions on weight placement?

FX04 ARRIBA FX-4 FG STICK 58

I opted for the Fx-4, even though it lists for 8.5 foot wide boats. It is a fairly significant upgrade to all carbon ($189), but hey - you bought a light boat, keep it light.

Over the years I've had about a 50% success rate with the cork ball grip - meaning 50% of the time it pops off very early in its life. I've started replacing it (once it falls off) with a mountain bike grip. It takes a little work to get the grip on, but it works well and is a personal preference.

Yeah, I mountain bike too and love to hear my buddies talk about all the XTR components they have and how light it makes the bike (at 4-5x the cost)....even though they're carrying an extra 20-30 lbs on the rider!

I'm employing the ATR System so I don't think a couple of extra grams (for the european readers) will kill me.
