Hi Guys
Looking forward to sailing -racing in all Formula classes in the near future.
Been attempting to work out a proposed N A Texel Rating
for comparison in use .
3 basic revisions to current Texel proposed are
1-windspeed mod factor
2- handicap added factor for older original cat design
3 -a Spin area to weight ratio added -

Looking for a simple formula to apply to spin / weight ratio-as proposed -
http://www.catsailor.com/forums/sho... ;view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&vc=1

think this will help and benifit all Formula Classes .
any concepts for the added spin / weight formula ?
thanks
Carl

Stewart,

The (original) Texel Rating number for the F16 solo is a bit closer to reality I think than the ISAF number. A small list to compare:

Boat; Texel Rating; Isaf Rating

Hobie 16; 117; 1.16
Formula 16(1); 101; 0.97
Formula 16 (2); 102; 1.01
Formula 18; 102; 1.01
Tornado (new rig); 94; 0.94

I think the Texel rating for the F16 solo is a good estimate for what we can expect from the solo version with a spi. I heard some rumours that the ISAF committee is considering changes. we'll just have to wait and see.
