Anyone have any suggestions about good sources for info about understanding wind shifts, etc etc?

I have recently been crewing and learning a lot from the skipper I crew for (he has done several Worrells and crewed for Smyth in the 80s). Although I understand, somewhat, when he talks about which side of the

puff

we are on it still confuses me. I learn a lot from him but was wondering where people would suggest I look to find that info (book, web site, etc).

In the end it may just confuse me more and certainly time on the water (and paying attention) would help but if that isn't possible then I could read a little.
I do spend time looking at the other competitors- when time allows- and also try to look at the character of the water on the right and left side of the course but I am not sure of what I am seeing.

Ditto--seems like the first half of the book is meteorology.
