Wouter,

Hope U and the rest of the F16 readers on this forum had a great start to the New Year.

I wanted to thank you (again) for your valuable info on the F16 class and in particular for the info you were very gracious in sharing about the boats, especially the Blade F16 from VWM.

Matt has worked very hard and has provided me with exemplery customer service in finalizing the details on my Blade (Sail No. X-1). My boat is finally packed and will be picked up this week to start the final journey of 13,365 KM from Miami, FL to Karachi, Pakistan.

I hope to share my experience and lots of pictures with you and the rest of the forum members, soon.

May the wind always fill your sails...

Asim

Member 58 has just signed on, welcome to :

- Marcus Towell Adelaide, South Australia (Australia) : Is building a Blade F16 now and has build a Blade F18 last year

Welcome Marcus !

Our official presence in Australia is now growing as well. For a while there, we were just a bit underground in Australia, not anymore.

58 pins on our "world presence map", now we are getting somewhere. Still, we currently only have 2 registered in Singapore while I know close to 30 crews are sailing there. And certainly more then 2 are fiddling about with spinnakers overthere so, please guys lets see some more of you register,

I'm also still missing the Thailand boys and Girls. Bob Garner ? I know you are out there and that you don't want to sail without your spi ever again !

Wouter, I did not find you on that map. Are you registered on the map? Where are you located? I thought you were in The Netherlands?

Robi,

Go to the frappr page and look at the colon at the far right of your screen. The first 50 members are all listed there. You are on the top and I'm right below you at spot number 2. Click on my name and you'll find me on the map.

A warm welcome to :

Joo Kim in Singapore sailing a Taipan (photo taken in Ko Samui Regatta 2003)

Joo Kim has also annouced herself as an F16 volunteer for the next Singapore F16 event.

On the frappr page she writes : "23 Taipans & 2 Blades sailing out of Changi Sailing Club."

So we are currently 2 down and 23 to go.

Hi Wouter, Thailand at last allows you to plant another PIN in the F16 map, BladeRunner was out hunting last Saturday in light airs 5 knots - Sailed solo main and Spin, 2 hours racing came in 1 minute behind the first Tiger. Sunday, with Jib and crew added, 10-12 knots, 2 hours racing 3 minutes AHEAD of the first Tiger. I had to work too hard, gotta get me rig with more ooomph! esp upwind. I would like to get some feedback on "Blade Vs Taipan" - comparing the two boats - anyone?

Hey Bob, your handle spells Bald-(e)-Runner (typo ?)

I guess you are not the youngest anymore but are you sure you want the handle Balderunner ?

I just love this. Lately I've been getting heat over the F16's not being able to hang with the F18's and A's in the USA. Then gary comes along and places ahead on elapsed time except 2 A-cats in light winds and you come in with this report on days after Gary's.

I just love it. What a way to show how the rest of the world is just doing it.

Bob, you guys are using Texel handicap, right ? So your ratings are actually equal (when 2-up) or faster than the F18's (when 1-up) correct ?

Also Bob, I can't place a pin on our F16 world map for you. You have to do it yourself. Go to http://www.frappr.com/formula16classgroup and click on "add yourself to map" and follow the instructions.

Would love to see some more Asia put the pins on the map. So consider yourself warmly invited.

Working hard to get such excellent result. I fear that is the only way to do it. The other crews are not going to make it easy on you. Are you still using the standard Taipan 4.9 rig (mainsail + jib) ?

Regards,

Wouter

Behave Wouter! It's the monowobbles that are the dark side, not us!
