I have a tiger that I just purchased.
I am not a fan of adjustable traps. Is it necessary or just for the crew or can I get away without one

Many teams use them. I don't. No judgement either way.

I sail on my Tiger with my daughter. The adjustable trap for the crew allows us to have different settings.
Most of the time she drives and i crew. But when we switch around it is handy to be able to change the settings.

I try to eliminate anything complicated or with potential for failure and therefor take them off. If you use a dogbone style trap ring you have two settings, that will do me.
