Does the Mystere 5.5 fit in the F!8 class?
There are several versions of the Mystere 5.5. Some of them rate slower than a Formula 18 and some faster on the Texel numbers. None of them are the same as a Formula 18. Mystere did not make the boat to be a Formula 18.
Now having said that. You do know that Formula 18 is a box rule. You can have it measured by a class measurer to make sure it fits in the Formula 18 box. If it does it can be a Formula 18. There are many measurements to consider and a measurer will have to do all of them to determine the Formula 18 status.
This will be done to all the
Formula 18
class boats anyway. All boats are going to be measured in the future, just ask John Williams our new Chief Measurer for the NAF18's.

Thanks Dan... great info. I am not sure what a
box rule
means, but i do know that the class is very standardized and all the various boats have to meet the same lenght, width, mast height, weights, materials... and much (much)more ....
I was actually compairing the F18 standards to the Mystere info i found online at the International Small Catamaran Handicap Rating System (SCHRS) website... and it seemed VERY close.
This all came about from reading the post about the 104 class and wanted to learn more about classes... really cool info...
