Hi all,

New to catsailor. I just moved to California with my Capricorn F-18, did quite some regatta on the Canadian championship in the past few years (finished 3rd overall last year). Looking for club where I could beach my catamaran and hopefully a club with an active F-18 fleet in the bay area. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Nicolas

Not much in the bat for F-18. There are a few in Sf and Redwood city. I'm north in Eureka and race the hobie circuit on the tiger. F-18 racing in los angelos is big and Seattle is good. There are about 6 tigers in the area so if there were to be a F-18 race we would compete but there isn't a presence now. There are a few distance races The Ditch Run (Richmond to Stockton) where we have a good cat presence, also the 3 bridges race is doable on a cat.

This is screaming

opportunity

.
Somebody step and and register all of you in something and call it an F18 event.
Do one this year and see who shows. Advertise and get the word out. And make sure to get the Tigers to ALL go. This is how we started the ball rolling in the PNW area.
Good Luck.

Excellent, I have raced quite a bit in the past few years and I really look forward sailing in the sometimes gusty winds of SF bay! 😉 So bottom line, any recommendation on where to have my Capricorn

parked

, either on the trailer or on a beach dolly, all rigged up and ready to go sailing?

Thanks

Nic

Alameda has a few nice places and there is a tiger at sf yacht club. sf yacht club is hoist launch. Alameda has a few places with mast up and roll in or hoist.

If you are in the North Bay consider joining Inverness Yacht Club on the south end of Tomales Bay. Winds pick up to the low 20's every afternoon all summer long, similar to what you find on the Berkeley Circle but with strong gusts from the west coming down the valleys. I keep my Tornado on the beach there, ~10' from the water. http://www.invernessyachtclub.org/

Nic:

Are you moving from the San Diego area? I thought it was nice to see you at the MidWinters regatta at ABYC and was hoping you were here to stay. We are getting a really strong fleet going as this year we will have 3 more Capricorns and who knows whatelse.

Later,
Dan
