The subject results are posted at sailocra.com The race was held on Saturday around Maumee Bay at the west end of Lake Erie. The weather cooperated with warm temps, medium light air and some hazy/sunny conditions. Mark Batchelor was first overall corrected on his Inter 17R and Bill and Peggy Gillespie were first to finish the 24 mile Rhumb line course on their Inter 20. 42 boats started and finished and the high and medium Portsmouth classes were pretty homogenized while the low Portsmouth class seemed to have one of everything! Kenn Newbury was second overall corrected on his Taipan 4.9 uni w/spinnaker in his second year of ownership. Awards were drybags for helm and crew and top elapsed and corrected also received large line drawings of the Toledo Harbor Light, one of the marks of the course. EVERYONE received a mouse pad with the course imprinted on it and some competitors used them during the race as charts! Everyone seemed to really enjoy the race and post race socializing. Even the large steel channel buoys cooperated this year and did not pop in front of any of the boats! Hey, next year is the 10th anniversary of this race - plan on attending!
