NASA used to have (and may still) a space shuttle simulator where you tried to land that brick at Cape Kennedy.
It was good for plenty of laughs. (Spoiler Alert:) We all died multiple times. And they didn't even use bad weather, icy runways, etc.
Flight Simulator X has some weather inputs that I think they can add rain/wet runways (but maybe not ice)... I've crashed the Barbie Jet in a few times...

I've beaten that thing so many times I got board....
I'd love to sail where that wind is though! Always blowing a perfect 10-15 knots, with 10-20 second oscillations. I'm guessing the cycles are time compressed? Nothing shifts that quickly, but it is fun to see it and play the game, just make sure you get on the inside of every shift and ride it to the front.
Jake, I thought it said there was a 10% penalty per tack.
But with 4ksb boats, that doesn't equate to much...
I think I'm about 60% victorious on that thing. When the wind shifts are slight, it looks like the computer boat is doing some crazy tack-drills... I'd hate to be that bot-boat crew !
I just wish it would respect 'Starboard' rights!
I've had him pinned many times, and he just sailed right through me on port, even thought I was yelling STARBOARD!! at him for a good 100 meters! fking idiot! What would be great is if when you T-boned him, there was a big red splash and a CRUNCH sound.

I looked at it again and you are right - you do instantly lose speed when tacking.
Remember though, you are in a two boat race, all you have to do is cover him and try to stay in synch with the shifts.
You can really see the effect of 'leverage' if you split from him and get way inside of the next shift.
Wouldn't it be great if we had a moving wind line/lay lines like that on our GPS/TacTic equipment?
