add some zip ties to the spreader arms and feed the halyard through that.

I think I'm going to go with a loop setup like John's

thingy

.

Jake:

You, of all people, are paying too much attention to John's thingy.

I've seen a lot of boats with bungee run from the end of the spreaders to the shrouds, which I assume serves the same purpose.

On the Tiger it's not so much a problem with the spi but the trap lines getting snagged behind the spreaders which is why we run the bungee chord.

Wouldn't a bungee from the spreader to the shrouds serve to limit mast rotation though??? I would think in light wind especially that would be a bit of a problem??

in light air you use the bingbongs anyways.

Nah, use a small diameter bunji (1/8") and tie it loosely so that it only gets slightly snug when the mast is rotated away from the shroud. Works fine. I've never had a problem with my trap wires getting hung on the spreaders on the Nacras - but we did experience that a bit with the Cap during Tradewinds. Easy fix though.

The issue on the Cap was the fork at the top of the diamond wires. I'd reminded myself about a dozen times to tape those. <img src=

Yes, that is why its use has largely been abandonned again. At least by racers overhere.

I started looking at all these suggestions and though we have not had much problem with the spinnaker halyard getting wrapped behind the spreader, knock on wood, we have had the crews trapeze wire stuck there. In heavy winds I rotate the mast forward more. As a solution I ran a 1/8 inch bungee from one shroud to the other, in front of the mast and behind the spinnaker halyard. I just put it on yesterday and have not used it yet but simulation on the beach looks like it will be just right for what we are looking for. Thank you all for the suggestions.

Later,
Dan
