My 17 has come with a fiberglass FX-06 telescopic tiller extension. It has been left extended and has seized. Any ideas for getting it working again as I need it short for light airs.
THanks

Get bucket of water outside (can do it in bath tub, but it MAKES a big mess). Stick the end that doesn't attach to boat (should have hole in end) end in water. Soak the stick part that should be going back in with dish washing soap (type from dollar store is fine). Start SLOWLY moving it in and out. DON'T force it. Depending how much salt is end there it should come out. That is if galvanic (sp) effort has not welded it together. If so it is toast. I have used this on all my Ariba's. When I got Mystere 4.3 it was stuck bad and it worked it out. I do this ever time I sail in salt water and they are like new once you get it loose first time.

Hope this helps and good luck,

Doug

Agree with Doug's method, definitely do that first.

But, if it's really toast, do a search of this forum, there is a post with contact info for the company that makes these, they also refurb old ones.
