Err - JC ended up in second behind the Italians. Still impressive for a Yank to get on the podium. Represent!

While that particlar design may be fugly, I love what they do with the sails for this event. Last year was really cool.

Speaking from experience, that looks like way too little wind to be much fun in a gate so clustered on H16s. Better than sitting on the beach, but not by much...

the gates did get a bit hectic - only 6 boat lengths across!

The sail pattern makes it easy to see which teams were carrying a lot of mast rake in the varying conditions - the jib and main line up better with less rake.
they did gaff with the jib numbers a bit cos' some were on the port side and some on the starboard side. not sure if this directly related to the chance of being OCS tho. The race team was pretty sharp

I saw one really impressive camp with people from UK. There where a group of tents, cooking area, barbeque and sink, was that you? I liked the trailer with the Hobie 16 above the rib.

The finals took place during three days instead of four due to high winds during the qualification. At the first day of qualification the winds got really strong and one crew got hurt during a capsize and six teeth got loose and the yaw had a crack. She probably had the sheet in her mouth when the boat pitchpoled but she wasn't sure when I asked here. The security boat was at the crash after about 40 seconds and got here moved to the rib and another guy jumped over to the Hobie to help the skipper to sail it home.

The first day of finals had light but quite stable winds.
The second day had really messy winds with rain showers sweping over the race area and big wind shifts. We got one fantastic start in one race with double trapeze and rounded the windward mark in second place, that was cool! The wind got weaker after the windward mark and we lost a couple of places. But that upwind will be my favourite sailing memory for a long time.
The last day had strong winds and was a PERFECT hobie day! After three races the wind got stronger and boats started flipping when we where waiting for the next race and the finally descided to cancel all racing for the day.
