Javelin 16 fitted with double trapeze (new pics)
Some new pics of the launch of the Javelin 16 in very light air. Besides the furling gennaker it is fitted with a double trapeze!!!
See: www.bimare.net and click on the Jav 16 logo
It seems that 24 (twentyfour!!!) Javelin 16 have been already sold, one week after the launch of the first production boat. Anyway the rest of the 2003 production (26 boats) is still available at a special promotional price.
For more detail see BIMARE web site:

Intersting - I see that the gennaker (spinnaker) is sheeted outside what appears to be a split forestay. This would make the available sheeting angle limited to deep downwind use no? It's also furled right off bridle wires instead of suspended off the end of a pole. Where does a jib quit being a jib and start being a hooter or a gennaker? It would be very interesting to see this boat with all the sails full underway.
You are right Michael.
The Javelin 16 spinnaker is fully compliant with the ISAF rule (SMG>75%SF) so that you can fit yr cat with a furling system.
For further info/comments please refer to my latest posting about the topic: the new Javelin 16 is fitted with an hooter
The reason why I wrote that it is most suited for short footed asymmetric refers to the diameter of the furled sail. If you have a foot of 10-11 ft, as it is the case of the Javelin 16, the diameter is 2 inches.
Obviously things are different for asymmetrics with a foot of 16-18 ft
